Cathy Blom and Joe Auricchio, Jr. planned their winter vacation around the expected birth of Joe's first grandson to Melinda Novak and Patrick Auricchio, Sr. on March 3, 2000. Since Cathy had never been to the Orlando, Florida area and Joe's daughter, Yvonne lives in the same town where Disney calls home - Kissimmee - they booked a suite at the Quality Inn Suites directly across from Old Town. Pat and Mindy live in Port St. Lucie (Winter home to the NY Mets) and so does Joe's sister Nancy and her family. This way, once the baby arrived, Joe and Cathy would travel to Pt. St. Lucie to spend time with the relatives - Yvonne planned on a later visit. The vacation was planned from March 4 until the 19th. They figured the baby would arrive early on or before the vacation itself. Things seemed to be planned well............... thank heavens Cathy and Joe have a good sense of humor.
